Troop 466 is the Oldest Scout troop in Jersey City (78 years) We have 50 registered Scouts and our leadership committee of 12 adults who provide support and mentoring for the program. The troop is active with teaching Scouting skills of Camping, Hiking, Wilderness activities and Venturing. We support many Troop community service projects each year. The program is based on the original Scouting concepts developed by its founder Lord Baden Powell in 1910 we follow the Scout Oath and Law which provides the principals for Character development. We use the Patrol method, which empowers the Scouts to run the program with peer to peer leadership. It provides a social outlet for long lasting friendships, as many of our Scouts are friends outside the troop, and attend school together.
Each year our program schedule provides for several weekend Camping trips and a week of Summer camp outside of Jersey City. Hiking day trips, Swimming, Archery, Kayaking, First Aid and Safety classes are provided as part of our Monthly troop activities. Troop Meetings run from September through June on Tuesday evenings 6:45pm to 8:00pm. We meet at the Empowerment Academy located @ 211 Sherman Avenue Jersey City 07307.
